Are you a New Brunswick-based performing artist, ensemble, or company with a project you are looking to develop or explore?
The Fredericton Playhouse is accepting applications for a new Artist Development Program, InterMISSION, intending to nurture and support creativity and innovative practices in artistic disciplines. The InterMISSION residencies offer access to the Playhouse’s theatre space and facilities, tailored to the participants’ needs and availability.
Examples of possible residencies include creating new works, innovative music or sound recordings, video and lighting exploration, script development, movement exploration, staging or artistic specialization for plays, acting for the camera, vocal coaching, preparing for concerts, exploring or researching innovative ideas, small group collective composition lab for music, and dance. Residencies are open to theatre artists, musicians, choreographers, composers, dancers, visual artists, designers, etc.
Each residency will take place over one to four consecutive days, with each day including up to 6 hours of work in the facility. Scheduling is to be determined between the artist and the Playhouse. Residencies will be offered between September 14 and December 18, subject to availability of the venue and funding. Individual artists and artistic personnel (stage managers, artist-provided technicians, directors, choreographers) will be paid a fee of $100 per person per day. An individual chosen by the artist as a resource expert (mentor, coach, expert) will be paid a fee of $400 for each residency.
The deadline for applicants is August 17, 2020. For more information, eligibility criteria, and to apply, click here.
