Canada Council Grants
Facilitated by Explore and Create Program Officers

Interested in applying for a Canada Council grant? Sign up for a one on one session with a program officer to answer all your questions about the process. The Canada Council for the Arts is the arts council for the Government of Canada, acting as the principal instrument for funding public arts, as well as for fostering and promoting the study and enjoyment of and the production of works in the arts. This session will be built around the Explore and Create grants. Explore and Create supports the research, development, creation, and production of work, as well as professional development for artists.

Proposal Overview
Facilitated by Kathleen Buckley, Professional Grant Writer

Project proposals are some of the most daunting parts of applying for professional opportunities, and it can be helpful to have someone to work through your ideas with. Participants will be required to provide a proposal for a project, a CV, and a list of goals for their practice. The facilitator will meet with each participant, read the proposals, provide feedback and suggest funding sources and partnerships.

Licensing for Musicians
Facilitated by Tim Hardy, Sound of Pop

Are you a songwriter, music publisher, record label, musician, band member, band manager (or anything in between)? With almost 30 years experience in the Canadian music industry, Tim Hardy from multiple ECMA award winning publishing company Sound of Pop is available for 1 on 1 sessions to answer any question you may have about your career in the music biz.

Branding and Self Promotion
Facilitated by Alex Weaver Crawford of Weaver Crawford Creative

Whether engaging social media, online selling, or in-person sales (via fairs, performances, or retailing), creating a cohesive aesthetic is the “branding” of the arts. Accurate and crisp documentation is the foundation for circulating work online. These one-on-one sessions will give participants specialized feedback on their online brand, including social media, website, and other sections. Weaver Crawford will offer suggestions to participants on how to improve their brand and its cohesiveness, and offer suggestions on tools they can use as well. Participants are expected to submit branding materials for review one week before their meeting.

Canada Council Grants: Explore and Create was held on February 27th, 2023 with both an info session and consultations.

Past One 2 One Sessions

Our first One 2 One series had participants working directly with an accountant to develop their accounting systems and establish a regular process for updating their finances; one on one sessions on taxes, proposal review, and arts writing.

A round of these consultations also took place in conjunction with the Arts Atlantic Symposium 2022.
