The Owens Art Gallery at Mount Allison University, Sackville, New Brunswick, is seeking a recent graduate for its first Colville House Curatorial Internship. Working closely with the Director and the rest of the Owens’ curatorial team, the Intern will play a key role in the administration and delivery of programming linked to Colville House, a small house museum located in the historic home of one of Canada’s best-known visual artists—renowned magic realist painter Alex Colville. Interns will be given the opportunity to work on exhibition planning and design (online and in the gallery), curatorial writing, publication coordination, and public programming.

Candidates must have graduated from a recognized post-secondary institution and have knowledge of contemporary museum and curatorial practices, ideally through study in a Fine Arts, Art History, or a Museums and Curatorial Studies program. Basic computer skills are required and a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite applications, particularly Photoshop, would be an asset, although the Owens can provide training and experience in these areas. Priority will be given to recent graduates of Mount Allison University.

The work term will be for a period of 30 weeks, from the 8 of September 2020 to the 31 of March 2021. Salary is $20 per hour, and applications are due by August 15, 2020.
