The Town of Sackville Department of Tourism and Business Development will be accepting proposals for a performing artist residency in the Sackville Waterfowl Park, and/or adjacent Visitor Information Centre, until Friday, March 5. Residency length can vary, but the proposed length of the residency should be included in the Performer’s proposal, and it should not begin before June 1 and must end by September 30, 2021. Proposals must include a plan for work in the Waterfowl Park (and/or the adjacent Visitor Information Centre). The work should include an aspect that will be of interest to the general public, and a hands-on aspect that will be of interest to younger people. COVID 19 restrictions, such a physical distancing and wearing masks, should be addressed in the proposal.

Performing Artists should also indicate how they will assist in the promotion of their project and any activities or events related to it.
Selection criteria will include: past experience; the ability to carry out the project; appeal to a general audience and possibilities for interaction with the public; artistic interest of the project; and ability to insure a COVID safe environment at all phases of the project.
The chosen performing artist will receive an honorarium of $1500. Proposals should include a project outline, an artist’s cv, and samples of work. Materials should be deposited at Sackville Town Hall by Friday, March 5 at 4:30 pm. to the attention of Ron Kelly Spurles, or sent via email to r.kellyspurles@sackville.com. artsUNITE/UNITÉ des arts is thrilled to launch Unmute: Virtual Artist Residency, a 3-week online artist residency program taking place in March 2021. artsUNITE/UNITÉ des arts will curate up to 6 Canadian artists to create 3 weeks of programming and activations during our National launch. Encouraging creative approaches to entrepreneurship, professional development, and artistic tools and resources, Unmute: Virtual Artist Residency will showcase artists from across Canada to help them grow their own career and collaborate with them on building creative resources for the Canadian creative community.

Program components will be offered primarily in English, with translation and ASL services available as needed to support the participation of a diverse community of artists. Applicants must be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident currently based in Canada to qualify for this opportunity.

Please note that the deadline for the Artist-in-Residence Program is February 1st, 2021.
The Artist-in-Residence Program is intended for New Brunswick public or private institutions and organizations that wish to host professional artists to enable them to pursue specific projects relating to their creative work. The invited artists may reside in New Brunswick or outside the province. This program is also open to individual professionals who seek to advance their creative work through participation in long-term (3 months or more) residency opportunities at home or outside the province. The artists in residence are to contribute to the promotion and understanding of the arts by means of the artists’ contact with the clientele of the establishments.
We strongly encourage you to apply as soon as possible for this program; your participation in this program fosters the development of arts throughout the province! Veuillez noter que la date limite pour le programme d’Artiste en résidence est le 1er février 2021.
Le programme d’artiste en résidence s’adresse aux institutions publiques ou privées et aux organismes néo-brunswickois qui désirent accueillir des artistes professionnels dans le cadre de projets leur permettant de se consacrer à leur activité créatrice. Les artistes invités peuvent être résidents du Nouveau-Brunswick ou d’ailleurs. Les artistes individuels peuvent aussi faire une demande pour leur permettre de participer à des résidences à long-terme (3 mois ou plus) soit au Nouveau-Brunswick ou à l’extérieur de la province. Les artistes en résidence doivent contribuer à la promotion et à la compréhension des arts par leur présence auprès de la clientèle de l’établissement hôte.

The Association acadienne des artistes professionnel.le.s du Nouveau-Brunswick (AAAPNB), ArtsLink NB and Mawi’Art: Wabanaki Artist Collective, join forces again for the second Cross-cultural creation residency. A community residency between an acadian artist, an anglophone artist, and an indigenous artist in New Brunswick.
This year’s program will take place in two week-long stages, in different NB communities. Through this residency, artists will have the opportunity to create new work while immersing themselves in the artistic process of fellow artists.
The experience of being in another community and creating with people of different artistic backgrounds allows one to go beyond language barriers and discover different cultural environments. Recognizing current debates surrounding cultural and language tensions in New Brunswick, this initiative demonstrates that it is possible to grow by combining strengths rather than advocating division. Art in itself is a means of expression and cohesion and makes it possible to break down the boundaries that all too often isolate us.
OBJECTIVES OF THE RESIDENCE
The work in progress must be presented publicly at the end of each week. The artists will have complete freedom of creation, but will be called upon to open their creation space to allow the community to discover their work through open-studio visits.
