Sunbury Shores Call for Exhibition Proposals 2024-25 🌿

Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Centre, in St Andrews, NB is calling for exhibition proposals by contemporary artists from New Brunswick, Canada, and internationally for exhibition at Sunbury Shores from 2024 – 2025.

Sunbury Shores Arts and Ecology

Sunbury Shores is a not-for-profit community art centre with a mandate to present the work of contemporary New Brunswick, Canadian and international professional visual artists. Sunbury Shores is currently seeking exhibition proposals for solo and group exhibitions in a variety of media. Exhibition proposals should be well-researched and outline a clear concept; they will be reviewed for artistic quality and creativity.

A collaboration between the arts and nature has informed the vision for Sunbury Shores since it was founded nearly 60 years ago, an anniversary to be celebrated in 2024.

Exhibitions are displayed for approximately six weeks with some smaller exhibitions, or pop- up shows, presented for a shorter period. Artist fees, based on national CARFAC rates, are paid to Canadian artists. Artwork may be available for sale or not. A jury of staff, community members, and professional artists reviews proposals.

Jane LeBlanc Filmmaker Award 2023: Call for Submissions 🎬

The NB Film Co-op and the Jane LeBlanc Legacy Fund proudly announce the Jane LeBlanc Filmmaker Award for 2023. In honour of a woman who lived life to the fullest and courageously took action in making her dreams a reality. A message that will hopefully inspire the winner of this award in realizing his/her dream of making films a reality.

The Jane LeBlanc Filmmaker Award is now valued at $3,000 (for first or second time NB resident filmmakers). The Winner is announced at the 2023 Silver Wave Film Festival on November.

Burtynsky Grant 2023: Call for Submissions 📸

Deadline extended: October 13, 2023

CONTACT is requesting submissions for the 2023 Burtynsky Grant—a $5,000 annual grant to support a Canadian artist in the creation of a photobook.

In 2016, photographer Edward Burtynsky and CONTACT established the Burtynsky Grant to foster the creation of photobooks by Canadians. The grant supports photo-based artists who are at the advanced stages of developing a cohesive, rigorous body of work presented in book form.

Please note that the jury is not interested in reviewing submissions related to: street photography, travelogues or vacations, architecture, or fashion.

Lacey Prize Call for Submissions 2023 📣

Artists-Run Art Spaces and Galleries from across Canada Invited to Apply for the 2023 Lacey Prize.

Lacey Prize 2023

The National Gallery of Canada (NGC) invites artists-run centres and community-focused galleries from cities and towns from across Canada to submit their applications for the 2023 Lacey Prize. In its third edition since its inception in 2019, the Prize provides financial assistance and recognizes the essential contributions of these art organizations to Canada’s cultural sector. The first-place winner will receive $50,000, and two runners-up will receive $20,000 each. The deadline to submit applications is Sunday, September 24, 2023.

The three winners will be selected by an independent jury and announced in early December 2023. For more information and to download the application form, go here.

There are more than 180 artists-run centres in the visual and media arts, contemporary craft and architecture, throughout Canada.

Craft NB Jurying Session, Fall 2023 🧶

Craft NB jurying sessions typically happen twice a year, in the spring and in the fall. The drop-off deadline for the first 2023 jurying session is September 1 at 12pm! Please contact Emily at communications@craftnb.ca with any questions you may have about jurying, and to set up a time for drop-off! Please note that our in-office hours may change week-to-week, so setting up a time for drop-off is necessary.

Radiant Rural Halls 2024

this town is small (TTIS) artist-run centre is seeking proposals for the third edition of Radiant Rural Halls. This project will consist of a series of contemporary art projects and events presented at rural community halls in PEI. The presentations will take place between February and April 2024, with exact dates and venues to be confirmed. Radiance refers to emanating light, warmth, and joy. We see community halls themselves as having a radiant quality and we are seeking works that engage with this idea, as well as with the liveliness and histories of the halls and their surrounding communities.

We encourage proposals in artistic mediums such as installation, media arts, and performance. Proposals focused on community engagement such as workshops, demonstrations, presentation and storytelling are also highly encouraged. We welcome work that highlights marginalized perspectives, is geared towards youth or senior communities, or has a meaningful connection to a particular area of PEI.

Artist fees that follow CARFAC standard guidelines will be paid for this exhibition and associated public presentations. TTIS will provide production support for technical equipment and other material needs. Support for ground travel and/or shipping will also be available.

InterMISSION Artist Residency Program- Call for Artists 🎨

The artist residency program called InterMISSION established during the pandemic will continue to expand the capacity and activities in the theatre during quiet periods in the annual programming cycle. Designed for local artists to nurture and support creativity and innovative practices in their craft, the InterMISSION residency program offers artists mentorship, access to professional facilities, and support. Our technical staff, specializing in theatrical lighting, sound, and multi-media arts, are available to the artists to work on individually designed proposals of development and exploration. The Playhouse staff is also available to assist with designing proposals, grant writing, production tutorials or other educational components involved in an artist’s creative project.

The Fredericton Playhouse is now accepting applications for their artist development program, InterMISSION. Applications are due by September 8th, 2023, for residencies taking place during the 2024-25 season.

Third Space is seeking a local creative and innovative photographer who is able to capture the magic of their festival in the darkness.

The responsibilities of this opportunity include the following:

  • 3-Day on the ground presence during the festival
  • Documenting each installation in the THIRD SHIFT Lineup
  • Capturing the interactive and ambient moments of the attendees
  • Providing high quality final copies of said documentation

This contractual position will take place from Friday, August 18, through Sunday, August 20th, 2023 in Uptown Saint John, New Brunswick. Compensation for this opportunity will be agreed upon after the application deadline, and amounts will be reflected in respect to CARFAC standards.

After three years of solo virtual residencies, the Fredericton Arts Alliance’s 22nd series of Artists in Residence will be back in real space, real-time in the Casemates in Downtown Fredericton’s Historic Garrison District from June 23rd to September 2nd.
Once again, two artists will be working in the Casemate studio with the opportunity to bounce ideas off each other, share insights, learn new approaches, broaden horizons, and expand art practices. Hence this year’s theme: Collaboration.


We seek emerging and experienced artists working in any media, including architecture, performance, sculpture, music, dance, electronic media, literary arts, visual art, fibre arts, and fine craft.
