ArtsLink NB is delighted to offer its members workshop series’ to provide them with the skills and resources they need to succeed. Professional development is necessary for our artists and cultural workers to have long, creatively satisfying and financially sustainable careers in this province.

All workshops are free to ArtsLink NB members, who are welcome to participate in as many of the workshops as they would like. Non-member fees are $50 per workshops. Space is limited; registration is required. A $20 deposit is taken at registration to secure your spot, and will be reimbursed at the workshop. Registration includes refreshments for half-day sessions and lunch for full-day sessions. Participants are responsible for their own transportation and accommodation.

Writing for a Grant: John Murchie

Nov. 5, 10 am-4 pm Sunbury Shores, St. Andrews; Nov. 6, 10 am-4 pm Sussex Artists’ Co-Op, Sussex, Nov. 19, 10 am-4 pm, Connexion ARC, Fredericton

Along with an overview of the typical components of grant applications, this workshop will focus on developing a project concept and writing about it clearly and concisely. The session will focus on Canada Council for the Arts and artsnb. Learn how to write about yourself and your art practice in a way that supports your proposal and discover what jurors look for when reviewing submissions. Participants are asked to bring their partially completed grant applications for feedback.

John Murchie is a visual artist and curator Living and working in Sackville. The former coordinator of Struts Gallery & Faucet Media Arts Centre, he has served on numerous provincial and national juries.

Social Media Marketing: Stacey Cornelius

Is the second instalment of our Professional Development series. A no-nonsense, half-day session for artists who want to use social media to reach a larger audience and deepen their client bases. It’s designed for artists who are ready to start using social media but aren’t sure where to begin, and for those who have established a social media presence but aren’t sure how to most effectively market their work. The session includes an overview of the most powerful and popular social media tools for artists, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest. Learn how to promote your work on more than one platform quickly and efficiently while maintaining your own personality and artistic style and without sacrificing valuable studio time.

Crowd Funding 101: Nancy Kenny

Locations: Sackville,Miramichi, Fredericton, spring 2015.

This full-day workshop covers the basics of running a campaign from start to finish, including planning, launching and managing. Perfect for beginners to crowdfunding. Specific focus is given to understanding the ingredients of a campaign, choosing your goal, creating rewards, and crafting your pitch. Numerous examples illuminate the essence and power of the crowdfunding model. You will learn how to make an impactful pitch video suited to the characteristics of your audience, how to launch a powerful social media campaign and much more.

Nancy Kenny is a theatre artist and online marketing expert with experience in crowdfunding artistic projects, as well as delivering workshops to artists and arts organizations on the subject.
