UNBSJ Unveils New Work by Tara Francis

April 11 @ 1:30 pm 2:30 pm

The UNBSJ Faculty of Arts is honoured to unveil new work by Tara Francis. April 11, 1:30pm – 2:30 pm in the Hazen Hall Foyer of UNBSJ in Saint John.

All are welcome.

Please join Tara Francis and Elder Ramona Nicholas for a celebration and unveiling of artwork recently commissioned by the UNB Saint John Faculty of Arts. In this new work, Tara represents interconnected and intergenerational histories of the Menahkwesk harbour through her contemporary take on the Mikmaq style and tradition of porcupine quill art, sharing and connecting with ancestors who have moved across the Waponahki homelands with and among their many relatives with comfort and ease.

On April 11, visit with the artist and share in a discussion of the collaborative process through which this piece was conceptualized. All are welcome, and light refreshments will be served. This event is supported by students through the UNBSJ Indigenous Advisor. For more information about this event, contact rachel.bryant@unb.ca
