The Elm City String Quartet continues their season with two absolute staples in the quartet repertoire. If you love immersive and expansive masterpieces, this concert is for you.  The concert begins with the second string quartet of Johannes Brahms, which is an A-minor feat of musical transcendence.  The second piece in the program is Benjamin Britten’s second string quartet: a meditative, intricate, and brazen musical journey.

Lynne Wigginton: Call of the Running Tides 🌊

September 9, 2022 @ 5:00 pm 7:00 pm

Observing and interpreting the built and natural world of where I live has been a life-long commitment. Call of the Running Tides is a series of paintings depicting an area shaped and determined by the Bay of Fundy.

Lynn Wigginton painting of a Bay of Fundy shoreline with rocks in the foreground. Text reads, Call of the Running Tides opening Saint John Arts Centre Sept 9, 5-7pm. Lynn Wigginton, Spicer Merrifield Gallery and Saint John Arts Centre.

Opens Friday, September 9, 5-7pm at the Saint John Arts Centre.

Using layers of textured brush strokes and a colour palette particular to the bay, with each painting I have focused on the movement of the water, winds and tides, three elements that continually mould this unique body of water and its shoreline.

While these paintings highlight the energy and beauty to be found here, they also speak of a fragile and increasingly precarious place.

For Dale.
