Nominations for the 2024 Sobey Art Award are now open!
All nominations will be reviewed by an independent jury comprised of one representative from each of Canada’s six regions: Circumpolar, Pacific, Prairies, Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic, and also includes international representation. The jury will oversee the selection process and establish the long and short lists as well as the winner of the award.
The Sobey Art Award, recognized as one of the world’s most generous privately funded prizes for contemporary visual artists, is open to Canadian artists of all ages.
This year, a total of $465,000 in prize money will be awarded: $100,000 to the overall winner, $25,000 to each of the shortlisted artists, and $10,000 to the remaining long-listed artists. In addition, the six shortlisted artists will be featured in an exhibition at the National Gallery of Canada in Fall 2024.
All application materials must be submitted to the National Gallery of Canada by 8 p.m. EST on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.
