New Brunswick artists Les Fireflies, Kylie Fox, & Christine Melanson will be taking part in the “Canadian Music. East Coast Style.” Spotlight Showcase at the 2021 Folk Alliance International “Folk Unlocked” from February 22 – 26. The event is taking place in collaboration with the ECMA, Music Newfoundland and Labrador, Music Nova Scotia, the Cape Breton Music Industry Cooperative (CBMIC), and Music Prince Edward Island.  +++ info >

PROJECT SOUNDCHECK    

Music·Musique NB is offering NB venues and festivals a “pay what you can” training workshop on sexual harassment & assault prevention in a bar or event setting. The workshop is geared towards events staff or volunteers and venue/bar staff. You can read more about the Project Soundcheck training offered by Sexual Violence NB here.  If your team is interested in taking this workshop, contact Dominique (education@musicnb.org) and register before February 10th!

Sur un air doux, contemplatif, folk et agrĂ©mentĂ© d’effets sonores Ă©thĂ©rĂ©s, oĂą la lenteur du temps prend toute la place, la chanson Bulldozer amène Ă  rĂ©flĂ©chir sur la santĂ© mentale des artistes. The Backstays’ “No Hot Cargo”

Saint John’s The Backstays just released a new single “No Hot Cargo”. “The song was inspired by the small-but-mighty protests in Saint John, against Canada’s arms trade and the sale of Light Armoured Vehicles (LAVs) to Saudi Arabia while it inflicted war upon Yemen,” said The Backstays’ Pete Johnston (he/him). “These combat vehicles are made in Ontario, and have been quietly shipped out of the Port of Saint John for the past few years.” +++ info >

THE DUEL by Zachary Greer

Zachary Greer’s new instrumental album based on New Brunswick’s last fatal duel is now on Bandcamp and all streaming services. This year marks the 200th anniversary of the historic event and the album provides a dark and evocative soundtrack for the incredible story. The album features violinist Ali Johnson, as well as violist Mark Kleyn and cellist Emily Kennedy, who perform together as the folk-pop duo Pallmer.  +++ info >

Frozen Pendulum EP   

Local prog rock group Frozen Pendulum have released their debut EP “The Edge of the World”. The EP contains one single epic 19 minute track that takes us on a journey through a sea of emotions and an unforgettable sonic landscape.

Drone Doom Duo Alexander    

Comprised of Kyle Alexander McDonald (Voices, Bass, Sub Synth, and FX) of Canadian mantra doom band ZAUM and Jörg Alexander Schneider (Drums, Percussion) of German free jazz band Jealousy Mountain Duo, the funeral drone twosome known as Alexander have a new video to share for their track “Runes” off their debut album “I”, released this past October via Superbob Records.  +++ info >
