Well-known Canadian installation artist Rita McKeough will give a talk on her work at the Owens Art Gallery on Tuesday 13 September at 7:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

Rita McKeough is an artist who works primarily in installation and performance art. Her work uses humour, electronics, kinetics and audio to create an interaction between found natural objects and technological devices and has been described as an attempt to reconfigure the contradictions and tensions in the world around her.

Rita McKeough received a BFA from the University of Calgary and an MFA Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. She has exhibited in Canada and internationally and teaches at the Alberta College of Art and Design.  In 2009, McKeough received the Governor General’s Award in Visual and Media Arts.

Rita McKeough’s talk is part of the Visiting Artist Program, a series co-sponsored by Mount Allison’s Department of Fine Arts, The Owens Art Gallery, and Struts Gallery & Faucet Media Arts Centre. The Visiting Artist Program is funded by a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts to the Department of Fine Arts at Mount Allison University.
