Viewing of Janice Wright Cheney’s Installation “Sardinia”
July 22, 2016 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm
StudioWorks is hosting two simultaneous artists-in-residence through June 25, each working in different media. Janice Wright Cheney of Fredericton, N.B., is installing a site-specific piece, “Sardinia,” in the Free Will North Church which will be exhibited from mid-June through late July on selected nights, including times during the Fourth of July celebration.
“Sardinia” is an immersive, spectacular experience created by projected film, composed sound and sculptural elements that fill the entire main space in the partially-renovated historic church. Wright Cheney will also be working on other projects and research during her stay and will discuss her practice and the projects at the Free Will North Church, 82 High Street. These events are free and open to the public. Evening parking is available in the adjacent parking lot of Bangor Savings Bank and in the school parking lots on High Street.
The StudioWorks Artist-in-Residence Program is an initiative of the Tides Institute & Museum of Art. Funding for StudioWorks comes from generous support from ARTPLACE, private funders and individual donors.
