Satellite Theatre’s co-artistic directors Marc-André Charron and Mathieu Chouinard (Golem, Grum on a wire) are offering an intimate look at their creative methods. A dynamic and baroque outlook on theatre-making is what distinguishes Satellite Theatre, largely due to the co-directors’ process in the rehearsal room. With a playful approach to serious or even cruel themes, participants will be searching for a theatre which grabs at our imagination through movement and evocation.
Participants will use a sensitive provocation as a starting point, be it music, poetry or images, in order to generate material rapidly and in large quantities on stage. Afterwards, intuitive associations will be made throughout this generated material, akin to editing in the media arts, in order to give birth to surprising performances, where the poetic nature of what is created was not foreseen.
This work will be done through an important amount of improvising on stage and movement. Participants should wear ample clothing permitting large gestures and bring a bottle of water.
Cost: $150, $75 for first six AAAPNB members. (+taxes)
The workshop will be given in English and/or French. Whatever is needed for all to have a great experience.
