Two-Day Grant Writing Workshop – Fredericton and Moncton
September 27, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 4:30 pm
Two-Day Grant Writing Workshop – Fredericton and Moncton
Grants from government agencies, foundations, corporations and other sources are a major revenue source for charities, non-profit groups, municipalities, and other organizations striving to jumpstart new programs or strengthen existing services. Yet the hunt for grants can be a mysterious and frustrating quest for many people.
The good news is writing and developing clear, rational and compelling grant proposals is a skill that people can grasp and achieve a significant level of proficiency. By enrolling in this interactive and engaging two-day workshop, participants will learn:
- How to research and identify “high percentage” grant-making prospects by becoming thoroughly acquainted with various online funding source databases;
- About the differences between governmental, foundation, corporate and other funding sources and what factors guide the decision-making process for each;
- How to engage and develop a meaningful rapport with “point people” and forge long-term relations with identified funding sources;
- How to construct a clear and compelling grant proposal template or master document that can be used as a “copy & paste” resource so organizations can apply to multiple sources for funding;
- How to design project work plans and logic models that serve as a “blueprint” for the project for which funding is being sought;
- About the importance of metrics and how to set realistic, measurable and detailed project outcomes and results;
- How to formulate realistic budgets that reflect the projects’ true overall value, meet the needs of applicant organizations and satisfy the expectations of granting sources;
- About some important points associated with following-up with grant-making sources after the proposal is submitted.
KEY TAKE-AWAYS FOR PARTICIPANTS:
- Greater awareness and knowledge of online funding source databases and information resources;
- Participants will have established the framework, key messages, outcomes and long-term impact for their respective grant proposal templates;
- A better understanding of how to identify which funding sources are most closely aligned and are “the best fit” with their needs;
- A strong appreciation for the need to treat funding sources as stakeholders and why it is vital to maintain an “outcomes-based” perspective throughout the grant-seeking process;
- Participants and their respective organizations will be in a better position to acquire the resources they need to address issues affecting the well-being of their communities and fulfill their mandates.
