Theatre UNB presents starting Wednesday January 31st as part of Frostival, Bone Cage.
Winner of the 2008 Governor-General’s Award for Drama, Bone Cage is a stark, poetic, and emotionally searing play about a group of young adults growing up in a small town in rural Nova Scotia. Jamie and Kevin work in forestry, clear-cutting ever-dwindling tracts of forest, while Jamie’s half-sister Chicky mows sod, stripping the topsoil. Employed in industries that devastate the environment, their emotional lives and connections with others are equally stunted, even as they struggle on, driven by the hope of one day finding love and escape. Directed by Len Falkenstein and performed by the students of UNB’s advanced acting course.
