Switch on Hope: The Energy Poverty Campaign đź’ˇ

February 24 @ 6:00 pm 8:00 pm

The Conservation Council of New Brunswick invites New Brunswickers to kick off the ‘Switch on Hope’ Energy Poverty Campaign.

Join the Conservation Council of New Brunswick for the ‘Switch on Hope’ Energy Poverty Campaign event, hosted by one of our incredibly talented artists, Matthew Elliott (also known as Stephen Hero and David R. Elliott), from our artist-in-residence program.

During his residency, Matthew Elliot used his musical background to collaborate with passionate local youths from the Carleton Community Centre and the Interaction School of Performing Arts to create two original songs addressing energy poverty and the climate crisis. These songs were professionally recorded, with one of them, “Yeet Scream,” visually brought to life through an animated video by local animator Brian Finlay — check out his work at Drawn to It Studio.

Here are the details:

  • Event: ‘Switch on Hope’ Energy Poverty Campaign launch.
  • Date: Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024.
  • Time: 6-8 p.m.
  • Location: Carleton Community Centre (120 Market Pl., Saint John, N.B. E2M 0E1) Google Map.

At the event, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy delicious local cuisine from Jeremiah’s Deli & Catering while experiencing the premiere of these inspiring music videos. Moreover, you’ll gain insight into the creative process behind the songs and how programs like this can foster vital conversations about climate change and energy poverty within our community.

Come and celebrate with the kids who made the songs, hear about the process of creating music, and explore how community-based music initiatives can start conversations around energy poverty and climate change in New Brunswick.

We believe in the transformative power of art to inspire collective action, and we hope this event will spark meaningful dialogue and engagement on these pressing issues.

You can learn more and register through the ‘Switch on Hope’ Energy Poverty Campaign Event website.

We look forward to seeing you there!
