Sound Walk – Université de Moncton

June 27 @ 10:00 am

Join the Galerie d’art Louise-et-Reuben-Cohen in exploring the sounds and rhythms of our city with a sound walk. Experiencing active listening can be beneficial for people of all ages. It allows you to recharge, practice presence of mind, and develop a deeper understanding of how we fit into the ecosystem of our environment.

The meeting point for the walk is at the entrance of the Galerie d’art Louise-et-Reuben-Cohen at 405 Université Avenue on June 27, 2021 at 10:00 am. The walk will last approximately 30 minutes, or 2.5 km, at a moderate pace over varied terrain. Walking shoes and water are recommended.

We are also inviting the community to share their personal sound walking routes throughout the summer, using applications such as Map My Walk and the hashtag: @galrcsoundwalk.

This initiative is part of several free cultural mediation projects offered by the gallery, open to all, that will take place throughout the summer. We are planning nature art activities in the Millennium Ecological Park and guided bike tours of the public art itinerary Images Rémanentes, organized in collaboration with the Bikery and Galerie Sans Nom.

There will also be creative activities in the gallery, inspired by the summer exhibition, Give me Shelter. These activities will explore mobile construction and rug hooking. A large community rug hooking project will be underway throughout the summer and we invite you to participate at your leisure during gallery hours, Monday through Friday from 9am to 4pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 1pm to 4pm.

Individuals and groups of all ages are welcome and can also book private and personalized visits by contacting Alisa Arsenault, Curator of activities and community engagement, by email: alisa.arsenault@umoncton.ca.
