Please join us in welcoming Karen Trask, current Casino New Brunswick artist-in residence, to the Mount Allison community at a reception on Tuesday October 3, 4:30 PM at the Owens Art Gallery, Mount Allison University. All are welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served.
Karen Trask is a multidisciplinary artist based in Montreal. Her work in video, installation, artists’ books and performance has been presented in solo exhibitions in Canada, Europe and Japan as well as in group exhibitions in Canada, the United States, India, Mexico City and Colombia. She has participated in several artist residences: Helsinki 2001, Paris 2008 and Tokyo 2014 and her videos presented in festivals across Europe, Canada and South America. Her work is in public and private collections in Canada, Europe and the United States. After graduating with a BFA from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, she moved to Québec City. She completed a Masters degree in sculpture at Concordia University in 1999.
Through a special two-year program shared by Mount Allison University and l’Université de Moncton, Trask is dividing her time and expertise between the two universities as artist-in-residence. Trask continues to work with students, faculty members, and a variety of community stakeholders, giving talks, making public presentations, and undertaking research and artistic collaborations.This artist-in-residence program has been made possible thanks to a generous grant of $500,000 from Casino New Brunswick.
