Print all In new window Anna Cameron “Wildflower” and Julie Ann Hughes “Below the Surface” exhibitions open May 19 at Gallery 78

May 19, 2017

Anna Cameron’s painting is inspired by the changing landscape – both the long term geological shifts, and the more immediate seasonal changes.  Wildflowers randomly and freely transform the land with colour and texture as they are left to bloom and seed.  Cameron also explores colour and texture and a randomness of composition in her paintings, achieving a feeling of open space.  Sparrows are the observers who quietly watch the changes taking place from their higher vantage point.  Her latest exhibition is called “Wildflower.”

Julie Ann Hughes is a 2015 award-winning graduate of the Jewellery/Metal Arts Program of the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design. Her work explores the relationships between strength and beauty, man made and the natural world, masculine and feminine. The artist’s incredibly fine craftsmanship and attention to every surface of her creations brings a fresh perspective to jewellery that is both bold and elegant. Gallery 78 is delighted to host this talented young artist for her first solo exhibition “Below the Surface.”
