ONLINE WORKSHOP
Workshop Description:
Whether you are looking to pitch to a producer, distributor, or financier, the first step is always finding out who is the best fit. That means researching who is in the business of aligning themselves with films that are similar to your own. The road to getting a film off the ground is never straight and narrow, especially if youâre starting at the bottom. What if you could pitch your film in precisely the right way to precisely the right people?
Join Will Beckett as he takes you through his process, tips, and tricks for creating a memorable proposal and pitch trailer.
Instructorâs Biography:
Born in Nova Scotia, filmmaker/photographer Will Beckett is now based in Saint, New Brunswick. A graduate of the University of Kingâs College School of Journalism (BJh, 1996), Will brings a documentarian’s approach to his educational film projects. His NFB co-produced web documentary series, âPrehistoric PEIâ (and its accompanying video blog), showcased Prince Edward Islandâs little-known fossil history. His subsequent project, âIn the Shallows: A Tale of Two Shipwrecksâ garnered regional media attention for its innovative use of 360 Virtual Reality cameras to present a piece of Maritime history trapped beneath the waves just off PEIâs northern shores. Willâs upcoming projects will incorporate a mix of 2D and VR video as he delves into New Brunswickâs prehistoric mysteries.
Will has also worked as a crew member and actor in a variety of film and television productions. These include CTVâs âThe Amazing Race Canadaâ (Seasons Two and Six), CBCâs âThe Songs of Gene MacLellanâ TV special, and âThe Stats of Lifeâ (Season One).
