Bella et Moi
Introducing Meigy Prisilia Beatty- Entrepreneur and Soap Artisan
On Thursday, September 21st at the Vicky Lentz Gallery, Centre Maillet, Saint-Basile, sale 151 from 17h-19h, Meigy will be launching her new product inspired by our beautiful fall season, Autumn Shades. Please join us for the launch and also as Meigy introduces her product line. Everyone is welcome and refreshments will be served!
One woman’s dream to succeed and integrate.
You may have seen Meigy this summer at the local Farmer’s Market in Edmundston but she is a long way from her native home of Jakarta, Indonesia.  Meigy is putting down roots in Edmundston with her husband Alan Beatty and their son, Damien.
Coming from a background in sales and marketing, during the immigration process for Canada, Meigy wanted to do something that would connect her to the local community and help her integrate into her new home here in northwestern New Brunswick. Adapting to our seasons and a new language were just a couple of the challenges she faced.
While learning French, she decided to become an entrepreneur and looked for a business idea that would allow her to network and become an active member of the community. The idea of creating her own business niche that would allow her to work from home also appealed to her. Connecting with her friend, Nichapa, from Thailand, the decision was made to focus on hand-made, premium beauty products.
Bella et Moi is one woman’s dream of creating a means of independence that would allow her to open her horizons, connecting and sharing her passion while making friends in her new home in Canada.
Using certified essential oils and premium ingredients, ensuring she knows exactly what is going into all of her products, Meigy creates signature scents in a line of natural soaps. Using the cold process, a more traditional, time-consuming and quality-ensured method, was her choice for the product line introduced for Bella et Moi. The curing time for her line of sumptuous soaps, inspired by her new home, is four weeks. This is a slow and gradual process- unlike the hot method, where the heat employed in the process could change the delicate balance of the final product.
Meigy holds an affinity for the qualities she infuses into her premium products. Patience and attention to detail, and that personal touch to bring something from nature that gives benefits to her clients is her mission. No synthetic dyes or fragrances are used. She has just recently introduced her local product to the outside market, opening an online Etsy boutique.
Her first creation is Savvy Lavender, a soothing and relaxing Lavender blend with notes of Geranium, Ylang Ylang and Patchouli. Or how about the fresh, citrusy Lemongrass Spell! Or, sure to be a favorite, the delicate floral blend of Bloom! Kopi (Indonesian word for coffee), is a rich coffee blend inspired by Bali. Her products are inspired by her personal experiences. Take for example, Sweet Calendula body cream. She realized that the cold weather dried the skin and other women she met had the same problem. She created a cream with beneficial, non-greasy, hydrating qualities in an handy-to-carry tin that you can get refilled! Or then again, want to relax? Try a delightful herbal bath tea pouch!
