Learn about the age-old process of natural dyeing with fresh plants in this Eco-Printing Workshop. Natural Dyer Renata Britez will explain how to showcase the colourful bounty of Maritime flora by using seasonal and regionally-relevant plants. Creating dyes from fresh, local plants, as opposed to pre-extracted and imported powders, provides a real connection to this ancient process.

In this one-day workshop, you’ll learn about natural dyes and those that can be sourced locally, types of mordant (dye fixative) for cellulose fibres and protein fibres, and eco printing techniques in silk and cotton.

Participants will create their own silk scarf eco-printed with local leaves. Throughout the class, participants will learn about natural dyeing with fresh, raw dye, and how the process works with various fabrics and materials. This workshop is open to all levels of experience.

Please note that there will be a 30 minute lunch break (lunch is not provided).
