Tappan Adney Linocuts 🛶
July 4, 2022 @ 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm
The show of the work of Suzan Carsley will run from July 4 – September 30th 2022 at Hon. Connell House in Woodstock NB.
The series was inspired from a visit to the Adney Cottage: “Although he had never been there, I felt the presence of Tappan Adney and was impelled to do a series on him and the cottage.”
The show comprises of linocuts and mixed media work and a catalogue will accompany the exhibition.
What began as a visit to Tappan Adney’s granddaughter’s cottage in the fall of 2020, has culminated in an art show of 33 works executed by Woodstock artist Suzan Carsley:
“Although Tappan Adney himself had never been to the cottage, I felt his presence from
the moment I walked in. He spoke to me through photographs and reproductions of his
paintings. Books by and about him, collections of baskets, and overall ambiance all
added to my experience. I was inspired, no, impelled to do a linocut series on the
cottage and him.”
A 42-page catalogue of all works accompanies the show and will be available for purchase along with the original linocuts and acrylics and some reproduction prints.
Joan Adney Dragon, Tappan Adney’s granddaughter, calls the series “a love song to the cottage.”
The show and sale begin July 4, 2022. Suzan will be in the gallery that day from 2:00 – 5:00 pm
