The National Gallery of Canada and the Future Guest Lecture by Marc Mayer

Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Gallery of Canada, Marc Mayer will be giving a talk entitled, “The National Gallery of Canada and the Future” on Monday 28 November at 7:30 pm at the Owens Art Gallery. All are welcome to attend.
Marc Mayer was born in Sudbury, Ontario and holds a degree in art history from McGill University. He began his tenure as the Director and CEO of the National Gallery of Canada on January 19th, 2009 and was re-appointed for a second five-year term on January 19th 2014.
In addition to working at the National Gallery, Mayer has held a number of executive positions at art institutions on Canada and the United Sates. He was a Curator at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York from 1994 to 1998; the Director of The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery in Toronto from 1998 to 2001; Deputy Director for Art at the Brooklyn Museum from 2001 to 2004 and Director of the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal from 2004 to 2008.
Marc Mayer has organized over 30 exhibitions, including solo shows of Jean-Michel Basquiat, Judy Chicago, Stan Douglas and Kim Adams. More recently, Mayer co-organized the retrospective exhibition Jack Bush with Dr. Sarah Stanners.
