The Baked Ham Community Speaker Series #15
Beverly Glenn Copeland: Reverse Stereotyping – Limitations on the Human Potential
Sym Corrigan: Slides, Swings, and Climbing Frames
The Baked Ham Community Speakers Series returns to present talks by Beverly Glenn Copeland (Sackville) and Sym Corrigan (Halifax).
The Baked Ham lectures feature two 20-minute presentations on divergent topics, seemingly unrelated. A question and answer period will conclude the evening, encouraging the audience to make connections and conversation.
Sym Corrigan is a Halifax based artist whose practice ranges from installation to performance and media-based works. In her talk, Slides, Swings, and Climbing Frames, Sym will share some of her interests in playground design from the perspective of a visual artist and a parent. Using Dutch architect Aldo van Eyck’s postwar playgrounds as a starting point, she will explore climbing frames, slides, and other play structures and the spaces they inhabit.
Beverly Glenn Copeland is a composer and musician based in Sackville. He has written a large body of music for adults and film, four musicals for children and recorded six albums. Glenn also wrote music for children’s television programs and spent twenty-five years entertaining kids as a regular actor on the Mr. Dress-Up Show. After a long absence from performing, Glenn has resumed concertizing and presenting on a variety of topics from the perspective of a Buddhist practitioner of 45 years. Glenn talk is titled Reverse Stereotyping – Limitations on the Human Potential.
The Baked Ham Community Speaker Series aims to create a casual environment to share ideas and conversation on a variety of topics. Admission is $5.00 by donation, and open to the public.
Baked Ham is supported by the Sackville Commons & Coworking, Owens Art Gallery, CHMA-FM , and Struts Gallery & Faucet Media Arts Centre.
