Surrounding Uncaring Skies transports us in a sleepless world and in different landscapes in a configuration that echoes science-fiction. Through the use of video, an installation approach and soundscape, the exhibition explores tableau vivant in a dialectic of standstill and movement. Together, all of the elements of the exhibition form the central image that addresses the collision between the human body and the continuous activity of our time.
Jessica Arseneau (born in Bathurst and raised in Tracadie-Sheila) did her Bachelor of Fine Arts at UniversitĂ© de Moncton in 2011 and a master’s degree in new media at the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig, both completed with distinction. Her work was presented, among other places, at the Galerie Sans Nom, Moncton, the Fonderie Darling, Montreal, BronxArtSpace, New York, Agora Collective, Berlin, Traverse VidĂ©o, Toulouse, D21 Kunstraum, Leipzig, and the Friche la Belle de Mai, Marseille. For the year 2021, she is doing a residency of 12 months at Urbane KĂĽnste Ruhr, in Germany.
