Scotland and New Brunswick’s Finest in Concert
Ivan and Vivian Hicks – Down Home Fiddle Productions will be presenting the latest in their house series at their home theatre at 1631 Route 112, Upper Coverdale NB on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 for a 7:30pm start time.
Coming all the way from Scotland is the Paul McKenna Band, a group that the New York Times hails as “the best folk band to come out of Scotland in the last 20 years.”
Paul and his band have been touring the world for over a decade, thrilling audiences with their folk sound. With his voice, Paul brings to life the stories of the songs and draws you in. The band with their traditional instruments including fiddle, perfectly frame the story Paul’s songs tell.
They have 4 albums to date and with their popularity there are sure to be more.
The Lumber Jills
Joining the Paul McKenna Band are the Lumber Jills, an upcoming fiddle group of young women from New Brunswick. These four, all under the age of twenty, have already toured across Canada and Europe. They present traditional Down East and Acadian music with a touch that makes the tunes their own. They also are talented step-dancers and their piano accompanist is top notch.
Both groups join us straight from the prestigious Stan Rogers Folk Festival. A rare occupancy!
You will be in for a fantastic evening that you won’t forget. This event will be held at the Hicks’ residence, Upper Coverdale, NB. Ticket price is $20.00 per person and must be reserved in advance. Only 50 tickets are available for this intimate acoustic venue. For tickets please call 386-2996 or email ivan@ivanhicks.com.
