Rediscovering Reicha
February 28, 2018 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
For the first time in North America a rediscovered work by romantic composer Antoine Reicha (1770-1836) intended to be performed by two brothers on the recently invented 13 keyed clarinets in Bb and A in 1810. A feat for the time, and until now a unique work. A young composer from Montreal, Alexandre David accepted the challenge to write a second work for the same sextet, based this time on the ancient poetic form of the rondel, popular between the XIV and XVI centuries and among French poets of late XIX century.
Featuring Nadia Francavilla, Emily Kennedy, Christopher Buckley, Danielle Sametz, Jean Guy Boisvert, and Richard Hornsby.
