odd sundays

March has come in, lamb or lion, and we’re ready to welcome you all again to odd sundays at Corked Wine Bar, 83 Regent St., Fredericton, this Sunday – March 5 – at 2 P.M. The doors are usually open at 1:30. The usual invitations apply: say hello to Charlotte and get a drink, greet your friends, old and new, add your name to the open mic list, get a book draw ticket and find a seat. One point of house-keeping, if I may. Charlotte opens her establishment especially for us on these special Sundays, and we repay her for that generosity by making our timely exit when our activities are complete, in order that she can get home to her family in short order. Born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Lee D. Thompson’s fiction has been published in five anthologies, including Random House’s Victory Meat, New Fiction from Atlantic Canada and Vagrant Press’s The Vagrant Revue of New Fiction, and in more than a dozen literary journals, such as Riddle Fence, The New Quarterly, The Dalhousie Review and Numéro Cinq. In 2008, Lee’s first book, S. a novel in [xxx] dreams, was published by Broken Jaw Press.
In 2016 Lee’s short story “mouth human must die” was released as a chapbook by Frog Hollow Press in 2017.
Lee has been active in the New Brunswick literary scene for over fifteen years, working as an editor, publisher, book designer and as the organizer of the long-running Attic Owl Reading Series. From 2009-13 Lee was executive director of the Writers’ Federation of New Brunswick.
Vanessa Moeller’s poems and short stories have appeared in numerous periodicals, including The Fiddlehead, Prism International, The Antigonish Review, CV2, and The Pottersfield Portfolio, and have won several awards including the Atlantic Poetry Prize and an honorable mention in the poetry category of the National Magazine Awards. Her first poetry collection, Our Extraordinary Monsters, was published by Signature Editions. She currently works as a writer, translator, and editor in Moncton, New Brunswick.
