Monet and ‘Impression, Sunrise’

“Wallpaper in its embryonic state is more finished than that seascape!” declared a critic in 1872 after viewing Monet’s ‘Impression, Sunrise’. We will talk about this painting and its role in giving the Impressionism movement its name, plus examine the early life and work of Claude Monet.
