May 12 is the first Gallery Hop of 2017.
May 12 is the night BMG opens an exhibition of works by Fred Ross.
The Buckland Merrifield Gallery will host an exhibition of artwork by the late Fred Ross, Saint John’s most celebrated artist. Fred Ross was honored during his lifetime with membership in the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts, The Order of Canada and The Order of New Brunswick. His work is found in numerous collections including the National Gallery of Canada. His work has been exhibited and collected nationally and internationally.
A large number of works were discovered in Fred Ross’ studio following his death in 2014. BMG has worked with the Ross family to select a number of pieces for this special exhibition, most of which have never been exhibited previously.
The Ross family has said that it will use some of the proceeds for this exhibition to add to the two scholarship programs named for their parents, Fred and Sheila Ross.
