Atelier:
Le cyanotype est un procédé photographique monochrome négatif ancien (1800), par le biais duquel on obtient un tirage photographique bleu de Prusse, bleu cyan.
Cet atelier pratique traitera l’exposition, le développement du cyanotype, ainsi que le blanchiment et les techniques de teinture avec le thé et le café.
Les participants sont invités à emporter des dessins, des négatifs (sur mylar ou acétate transparent) ou à utiliser les objets fournis la journée de l’atelier en vue de créer leurs images.
Bio:
Rachel Thornton est originaire de Carp, Ontario et est une artiste et commissaire de la relève qui vit à Sackville, NB. Sa pratique incorpore le dessin, l’estampe, la broderie et le bouquin. Elle détient un baccalauréat en arts visuels de Mount Allison University en 2015.

Workshop Description:
In this workshop, participants will experiment combining contemporary image-making with one of the earliest photographic printing processes. Cyanotype is a contact printing process used by photographers of the early 1800s, which can be used to create distinctive blue and white toned image through the combination of negatives, drawings and/or found objects.
This hands-on workshop will cover exposing, developing, bleaching and tea and coffee toning techniques for Cyanotype.
Participants are invited to bring pre-prepared drawings or photographic negatives printed on a transparent surface (such as Mylar/acetate), or use provided objects on the day of to create their images.
Bio:
Rachel Thornton is an emerging artists and curator from Carp, ON, currently residing in Sackville, NB. Her interests wander between drawing, printmaking, embroidery and book works. She recently received a BFA from Mount Allison University in 2015.
