CAPE JOURIMAIN HOSTS ART AUCTION AND GALA EVENING AUGUST 20, 7 PM
Cape Jourimain Nature Centre, located at the last exit off of Route 16 before the Confederation Bridge, is holding an Art Auction and Gala to raise funds to restore their iconic lighthouse. The Gala evening features art donated by local and internationally acclaimed artists; some of the artists included are Andrea Blanar, Thaddeus Holownia, Istvan Zsako and Anna Torma. Cape Jourimain is a charitable organization with a mandate to provide programs that promote awareness and respect for local, natural and cultural heritage. The Centre has recently accepted stewardship of the historic Jourimain Island lighthouse which is one of only two lighthouses in New Brunswick that are preserved under the Heritage Lighthouse Protection Act. On Wednesday August 3 the lighthouse was moved to a new foundation further back from the eroding coast line. Cape Jourimain is raising funds to restore the building and open it to the public. The Art Auction and Gala evening fundraiser has been organized for Saturday, August 20, at 7:00 pm, at the Cape Jourimain Nature Centre.
The Gala Evening includes live entertainment as well as the fabulous artwork up for auction as well as donations from local craftspeople, producers and businesses available in a silent auction. Appetizers will be served from local harvests, and local wine, beer and cider will be available at a cash bar.
Tickets are $50 each, with a tax receipt. They may be purchased at the CJNC Craft Store (or may be reserved with a credit card by phoning (538 2370), Tidewater Books, Rob Lyon Graphics (both in Sackville), Le Chat Bleu (Baie Verte), 30 Church Women’s Clothing (Amherst) and Tidnish Bridge Gallery.
