Book Launch “Small Truths: The Art of Cathy Ross”

The launch of a new book on the paintings of New Brunswick artist Cathy Ross will take place at the Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Centre (139 Water Street, St. Andrews, New Brunswick) on August 22 from 1:30 to 3:30.

The book, Small Truths: The Art of Cathy Ross, offers an overview of the artists’ remarkable still life paintings, covering both her more recent work as well as a selection of earlier paintings. The publication is a result of a cultural research project carried out by the Fine Arts students of St. Thomas University FNAR 133a Drawing class with the support of the STU Research Office. The critical essay is by noted art writer and curator Ray Cronin of Nova Scotia, with a foreword by John Leroux from the Beaverbrook Art Gallery. The text was designed by Kirsten Stackhouse and features over 60 colour reproductions of Cathy Ross’s iconic still life watercolours, an artist’s biography, CV and statement. It is the most extensive publication on this remarkable artist’s work to date.
