Celebrate Third Space’s 25th birthday with us! A night full of events and fun awaits: games, drinks, a silent auction, and more!
Third Space is turning 25! To celebrate, we are having a birthday party fundraiser Show off that outfit you haven’t had a chance to wear yet with the evening’s theme: Gala! Join us for an evening filled with celebration and friendly faces. A silent auction will accompany the event, featuring artwork and donations from local artists and businesses. You can expect drinks, games, good conversation, friends old and new, and a photo booth to capture the memories!
The event will take place at the Imperial Theatre in the upper and lower lobbies on Friday, July 15th starting at 7pm. Bring a friend and help us celebrate this wonderful milestone as we look back on our successes and look ahead to what is in store for Saint John’s only artist-run centre!
Third Space is Saint John’s only artist-run centre for contemporary art. Our organisation acts as a vessel for emerging and established artists who cross disciplines and boundaries in their exploration of contemporary culture. Through events like exhibitions, workshops, residencies, lectures, performances, screenings, and publications, Third Space aids in the education, understanding, and appreciation of contemporary art. Our signature art-at-night event, THIRD SHIFT, brings together local, regional, and national contemporary artists to present art installations and performances that help Saint Johners reimagine their city. Third Space strives to present a schedule of engaging, art-based programming through creative collaborations with other community organisations in the region.
Accessibility notes:
The Imperial Theatre is wheelchair accessible. There is an elevator to the second floor of the foyer. Service animals are welcome.
Gendered washrooms are available and wheelchair accessible.
The Normal Heart provides a glimpse into the early days of the AIDS crisis. The brilliant play follows writer and gay activist Ned Weeks as he attempts to understand love as he fights for the rights of the gay community in New York City.
The Normal Heart, By Larry Kramer, Directed by Matt Hamilton-Snow

Funded through the Saint John Arts Board, Creative Spaces is a summer-long project to identify key areas of need for space among artists, creative professionals, and arts organizations, with outreach activities aimed at local businesses, arts organizations, and property owners to identify spaces in the city that are appropriate for use as art studios, offices, and performing arts events.
Are you an artist or creative professional in need of studio space, workspace, or performance space? You are encouraged to complete our Creative Spaces Survey online: https://forms.gle/wf5NoNVknbrYKpXw8
You’re Invited! This Friday, June 10th from 5-8 PM Paris Crew will be hosting the official opening for The Wooden Sketchbook by Rebecca Aldernet featuring a live performance by Apryll Aileen.
“The Wooden Sketchbook” is a collection and examination of everyday life. Altering the human figures in a way that observes the emotion and the purpose of the environment. A celebration in human form, and our altered perception in which we all view ourselves.
Rebecca Aldernet’s urban contemporary art defies explanation, providing commentary on the notion of collective versus private identities. Her art seeks to blur our perceptions of a shared reality. Her distorting of faces through organic and inorganic elements transcend our collective notion of how we exist in the physical world.
With over 100 pieces of never before seen artwork and a musical performance from soulful piano pop songstress Apryll Aileen, this will be a one of a kind event in the heart of Saint John.
We are thrilled to present the work of four Third Space members at the third Members’ Show of our six-part Market Series! Visit the show at Uncorked in the Saint John City Market until July 16th. We hope to see you there!
Artworks can be purchased by texting or calling Third Space at 506-566-7434 or emailing us at tiersespace@gmail.com. Purchased artworks will be available for pick up at Uncorked at the end of the exhibition on July 18th.
The ‘Anchor’s Up Tour’ will feature individual sets of music from three of Atlantic Canada’s most celebrated folk acts as they bring their songs and stories across the country.
Fortunate Ones is a JUNO-nominated contemporary folk duo from Newfoundland. With lush harmonies rising out of warm acoustic sounds, their latest album, That Was You and Me (2022), finds Fortunate Ones reflecting on life, loss, and hard times, and ultimately choosing love.
Old Man Luedecke is the recording and performing name of two-time JUNO award-winning songwriter Chris Luedecke. Known for his high energy banjo driven stompers, touching guitar ballads and dry humorous stories, Luedecke has been successfully exporting his brand of high and lowbrow roots for fifteen years.
The Once deliver thoughtful and playful songs soaked with the poetic charm and sunny sadness of the JUNO Award-nominated trio’s collective disposition. Well known for haunting interpretations of traditional music, The Once has bloomed a sound that represents their up-springing inner artistry while their roots dig ever deeper into their idolized island of Newfoundland.
We are so excited about turning 30 that we want to invite everyone to come celebrate with us in the gallery.
On Thursday, June 2nd, we will be hosting a special opening featuring new works by many of our artists. We will continue the celebration on Friday and Saturday, offering light refreshments.
