Emily’s artistic statement: My artistic inspiration comes from nature’s ability to affect the spirit. The beauty, drama, and diversity of the lands of New Brunswick’s Bay of Fundy region move me to capture my feelings and sensations in paint.  When hiking, I am highly sensitive to the shifting of light, interaction of colours, arrangement of shapes, and variety of textures, particularly as these elements relate to the architecture of the forest.  I continue to experiment with new ways to represent this depth of experience as my artistic practice evolves, manipulating style, media and other art and design elements.  Through my paintings, I aim to evoke in my audiences the same attachments I feel to these places, along with an appreciation for their intrinsic value.

Our organisation acts as a vessel for emerging and established artists who cross disciplines and boundaries in their exploration of contemporary culture. Through events like exhibitions, workshops, residencies, lectures, performances, screenings, and publications, Third Space aids in the education, understanding, and appreciation of contemporary art. Our signature art-at-night event, THIRD SHIFT, brings together local, regional, and national contemporary artists to present art installations and performances that help Saint Johners reimagine their city. Third Space strives to present a schedule of engaging, art-based programming through creative collaborations with other community organisations in the region.

You're invited. Paris Crew Presents The Wooden Sketchbook by Rebecca Aldernet. 5pm-8pm, June 10. 100+ original works. " A collection and examination of everyday life. Altering the human figures in a way that observes the emotion and the purpose of the environment. A celebration in human form, and our altered perception in which we all view ourselves." -- Artist Statement

“The Wooden Sketchbook” is a collection and examination of everyday life. Altering the human figures in a way that observes the emotion and the purpose of the environment. A celebration in human form, and our altered perception in which we all view ourselves.

Rebecca Aldernet’s urban contemporary art defies explanation, providing commentary on the notion of collective versus private identities. Her art seeks to blur our perceptions of a shared reality. Her distorting of faces through organic and inorganic elements transcend our collective notion of how we exist in the physical world.

With over 100 pieces of never before seen artwork and a musical performance from soulful piano pop songstress Apryll Aileen, this will be a one of a kind event in the heart of Saint John.

Anchor’s Up Tour ⚓️

October 26, 2022 @ 7:30 pm 10:00 pm

The ‘Anchor’s Up Tour’ will feature individual sets of music from three of Atlantic Canada’s most celebrated folk acts as they bring their songs and stories across the country.

Fortunate Ones, Old Man Luedecke, The Once. Anchor's Up Tour. Image of an anchor surrounded by flowers.

Fortunate Ones is a JUNO-nominated contemporary folk duo from Newfoundland. With lush harmonies rising out of warm acoustic sounds, their latest album, That Was You and Me (2022), finds Fortunate Ones reflecting on life, loss, and hard times, and ultimately choosing love.

Old Man Luedecke is the recording and performing name of two-time JUNO award-winning songwriter Chris Luedecke. Known for his high energy banjo driven stompers, touching guitar ballads and dry humorous stories, Luedecke has been successfully exporting his brand of high and lowbrow roots for fifteen years.

The Once deliver thoughtful and playful songs soaked with the poetic charm and sunny sadness of the JUNO Award-nominated trio’s collective disposition. Well known for haunting interpretations of traditional music, The Once has bloomed a sound that represents their up-springing inner artistry while their roots dig ever deeper into their idolized island of Newfoundland.
