Observing and interpreting the built and natural world of where I live has been a life-long commitment. Call of the Running Tides is a series of paintings depicting an area shaped and determined by the Bay of Fundy.
Using layers of textured brush strokes and a colour palette particular to the bay, with each painting I have focused on the movement of the water, winds and tides, three elements that continually mould this unique body of water and its shoreline.
While these paintings highlight the energy and beauty to be found here, they also speak of a fragile and increasingly precarious place.
For Dale.

Lynn Wigginton earned her BFA from Mount Allison University in 1974. In 1995 she co-authored and provided paintings for the book On Earth as it is In Heaven – Gothic Revival Churches of Victorian New Brunswick (Goose Lane Editions.)
Lynn Wigginton has exhibited extensively in solo and group shows in New Brunswick and across the country, and is represented locally by Spicer Merrifield Gallery and Fog Forest Gallery. A recipient of numerous honours and grants, her work can be found in public and private art collections throughout Canada and internationally.
“Shadow Ecology” pairs Heather McCaig’s sculpted glass and Emily Phillips’s paintings to create a gallery exhibition about environmental conservation in Canada.
Heather McCaig’s glass draws attention to the disappearing ecosystems of Canada that are quickly becoming shadows on our landscapes due to human disturbance. Her incredibly detailed native flora and fauna from each region brings the country’s ecosystems together in one room, allowing the viewer to recognize that by losing these crucial ecosystems, we are losing ourselves.
Emily Phillips’s art connects people with beloved wild places in the Fundy region. She aims to evoke in her viewers the same attachments she feels to these places along with an appreciation for their intrinsic value and continued conservation.
Join us this Friday for the Opening Reception this Friday, September 2, from 5-7PM
We are excited to tell you about our upcoming exhibition at the UNB Art Centre that will be opening on September 9th at 5:00 pm at the UNB Art Centre, Memorial Hall.
Show runs Sept. 9 – Oct. 21, 2022
The works in this exhibition include painting as well as multi-media installations that focus on the idea of place and our relationship with natural and manufactured landscapes. It explores the tensions that exist in the spaces that we inhabit. Drawn from crowd sourced images, Worth creates virtual communities that investigate the relationship between identity and location. Damien Worth is a graduate of NSCAD and currently lives in PEI.
