Limited to 8 participants
This course is for experienced artists to develop their own practice. Students will bring their own work – either in progress or ready to start. The studio is available for students’ own practice during the mornings, with the afternoons available for individual time with Theresa regarding questions around technique, composition, subject, etc. . Group time will also involve peer group discussion, encouraging critique and sharing of ideas and techniques.

Handworks Gallery is proud to feature a new collection of works by Jill Higgins, opening January 27, 2023. Opening reception will be Friday, Jan. 27, 4-6pm.
The exhibition will be on display at Handworks Gallery until February 3rd.
About the Artist:
Inspired by nature in all its beauty, Jill lives and works from her home in Rothesay, NB. Trained and registered as an Architect (Reg. AANB), painting has always been her passion. Jill pursues both her work in architecture and her passion for painting.
Jill works mostly in oils but also in both watercolour and acrylics. She enjoys painting a variety of subjects including, landscapes, boats, seascapes and florals.
Previous exhibitions of Jill’s work have focused on many East Coast subjects such as local architecture, iconic New Brunswick landscapes, traditional maritime pass times, and studies of regionals plants and flowers.

Tap into your creativity with Silk Painting Nite at RB Studio on the Hanwell!
This workshop will explore approaches to painting on silk, and how various paints, brushes and resists interact with the fabric.
Experiment with different techniques under the guidance of an experienced instructor, and take your unique design home with you at the end of the night.
This workshop is beginner friendly- no experience necessary!

According to your project or your desires, the artist will guide you in a personalized way in your creation, whether it is to learn a technique, to realize a work that you have in mind, or simply to have a good time!

Lily Morrow teaches painting with acrylics through weekly exercises that explore a variety of techniques such as mixed media, painting with squeegees, and brushwork. Topics like ‘the polka dot pop art pumpkin’ to ‘the 4-season tree’ will make learning how to paint fun and exciting.

All materials are provided within the workshop fee, and students should wear an apron or old shirt.

Margaret Bannister returns to The Charlotte Street Art Centre for an intermediate watercolour class.
Sharpen your skills with one of Fredericton’s most experienced watercolour teachers. This class is for perfect for anybody with a basic knowledge in watercolour, but who are looking to take their skills to the next level.
This 8 Week Program meets on Tuesdays, from January 10th to February 28th. Classes begin at 10am and wrap up at noon. Classes will be held in the Community Room (2nd floor) of the Charlotte Street Arts Centre, at 732 Charlotte Street. The enrollment fee is $160 per student. Students will be responsible for bringing their own art supplies, with the supplies list being sent to students upon enrollment.

Art Battle® is live competitive painting. Painters create the best work they can in 20 minutes. As they work, patrons move around the easels, closely watching the creative process. The medium is acrylic paint and the tools allowed are brushes, palette knives or any non-mechanical implements. At the end of the round, the audience votes democratically for their favourite painting and bids in silent auction to take the work home.
