See Whitehorse perform at Area 506! Glam and sleaze, desert grit and subway rats, scum-bags and fakers, hot messes and cold shoulders: welcome to the world of Whitehorse, a rock n’ roll duo from Toronto.
This inspiring live Celebration Concert stars 50 musicians, actors and vocalists and pays tribute to the fortitude and resilience shown by Maritime Performing Artists when the performing arts were all but banned for two years during the Covid-19 pandemic. Instrumentalists, actors, vocalists and teachers will express themselves through music, theatre, dramatic readings and singing to share how they were able to survive emotionally through the darkest days of the pandemic and how they were able to seize the moment to keep the arts alive.
The following are some of the featured performers who will be performing in concert in St. Andrews at the Power of Live! Celebration Concert at 4 pm, August 17, 2022 at the KIRA Amphitheatre. The Concert is free.

Fredericton comes alive for six days each September as hundreds of world class performers appear on dozens of stages, all conveniently located in Fredericton’s beautiful and historic downtown. Many different musicians come together and create a wonderful atmosphere for the public
âWith two Juno nominations and six solo albums to his credit, Danny Michel is one of the finest and most charming songwriters to grace the stage. His honest and straightforward lyrics, earnest live performances, and engaging stage banter, have earned him a devoted global fan base. As his fans will attest, he is a spontaneous & fearless performer.
If youâve seen Danny live in concert, youâre probably already a fan. If you havenât, you are missing out on âone of this countryâs musical treasuresâ (Toronto Star). Like a chameleon, he slips into any genre with ease, playing off the energy of the crowd. Danny is an innovator, demonstrating that creative artists in the digital age can build a rich, successful and intimate relationship with their fans. He gained publicity in 2008 for making the tracks of his hit single âFeather, Fur & Finâ available for his fans to remix and then posting their submissions on his website.
The AX Music Series is pleased to welcome classical guitarists and mandolinists Mark and Beverly Davis to the AX Gallery for a performance on Sunday, August 7. Mark and Beverly will perform music influenced by literary sources such as early English broadside ballads and the Cold Mountain poems of the 12th century Zen monk, Han Shan. They will lead the audience on a journey through stories and poetry, and the music they inspired.
Since 2001, the classical duo has performed around their native New England as well as in many international festivals, including Eurofestival Zupfmusik (Germany), Mandolines de Lunel (France), Ciudad de Cristal (Spain), FAME (Australia) and the Festival Internacional de Plectro La Rioja (Spain). With their two classical guitars and the occasional mandolin, the duo performs an original blend of music informed by early folk traditions, baroque, classical, romantic, and contemporary idioms. Mark and Beverly Davis choose their pieces based on the qualities of musical interest and emotional depth; their overall focus is on the beauty of sound and the expressive capabilities of plucked strings.
Their first CD âAyres and Dances for Two Guitarsâ was a Motif Magazine nominee for âBest Local CD of the Year.â The duo also performs with the Hampton Trio and the Providence Mandolin Orchestra. They are known for their North Meadow House Concerts, which have featured many rising stars of the classical guitar and mandolin world.
The duo has a website and you can sample their CD here .
