Sarah Harmer at the Playhouse and Capitol Theatre 🎶

Award-winning, platinum-selling musician Sarah Harmer makes a much-anticipated return to the stage in support of her 2020 album, Are You Gone.

Headshot of Sarah Harmer. Text reads: An evening with Sarah Harmer, Are You Gone tour

Wednesday, September 21st, 7:30pm at the Fredericton Playhouse.

Thursday, September 22nd, 8pm at Moncton’s Capitol Theatre.

Harmer’s sixth album and first in a decade, Are You Gone is a deeply personal and political collection of songs motivated by the beauty of life, the urgency of the climate crisis, and the question of loss. She calls it a spiritual successor of sorts to her acclaimed 2000 debut, You Were Here, which TIME called the year’s best debut album. Nearly 20 years after that release, Are You Gone brought a close to Harmer’s period of musical quietude with a rousing artistic statement, rich in detail and emotion, from the heart and for the spirit.

Harmer has been nominated for the Polaris Music Prize, garnered two JUNO Awards, and been widely praised for her “razor-sharp songwriting chops” (NPR Music) and “plainly hooky” melodic sensibility (Rolling Stone).Day of show tickets will be $44.70

“With two Juno nominations and six solo albums to his credit, Danny Michel is one of the finest and most charming songwriters to grace the stage. His honest and straightforward lyrics, earnest live performances, and engaging stage banter, have earned him a devoted global fan base. As his fans will attest, he is a spontaneous & fearless performer.

If you’ve seen Danny live in concert, you’re probably already a fan. If you haven’t, you are missing out on “one of this country’s musical treasures” (Toronto Star). Like a chameleon, he slips into any genre with ease, playing off the energy of the crowd. Danny is an innovator, demonstrating that creative artists in the digital age can build a rich, successful and intimate relationship with their fans. He gained publicity in 2008 for making the tracks of his hit single “Feather, Fur & Fin” available for his fans to remix and then posting their submissions on his website.

Carte Blanche Call for Submissions: Deadline September 9, carteblanche.acadie@gmail.com An evening of dance, Saturday, November 26th, 2022 @8pm, Salle Bernard-Leblanc, Centre culturel Aberdeen, Moncton

Organized as part of Strategy Dance 2022, in partnership with the Association acadienne des artistes professionnel.le.s du Nouveau-Brunswick (AAAPNB) and ArtsLink NB, Carte Blanche Acadie offers a performance opportunity for dancers from New Brunswick and the Atlantic provinces, whether they are Francophone, Anglophone, First Nations or allophone.

Through this event, we hope to create strategies and develop the dance community together, since dance is an art form free of language barriers.

The 4th edition of Carte Blanche Acadie will take place on November 26th, 2022, at the Bernard-LeBlanc Hall at the Aberdeen Cultural Centre, Moncton, NB, at 8 p.m. The event will be followed the next day by a business meeting to discuss the development of the dance scene. This meeting will be conducted in both official languages, English and French, at the Aberdeen Cultural Centre.

This is a wonderful opportunity to come to Moncton for a weekend dedicated to the Art of Dance! Carte Blanche Acadie (November 26th, 8 PM-10 PM) The aim of Carte Blanche Acadie is to offer a platform adapted to the needs of dance artists during which they can present work. The maximum length of each presentation will be 10 minutes. Whether the project is in the research stage, in development or about to be completed, the only criteria to participate is to have something to share. Even improvisation is more than welcome.

You would only have to specify what you would like to show in the application form. The presence of peers and an informed audience will allow you to have feedback on your work whether it is vocal or sensory.

Presenting, sharing and discussing in an inclusive environment are the objectives of Carte Blanche. In addition to providing a platform to perform, we will be providing a video of your performance as well as photographs that you can use for grants and future applications. Each act will receive an honorarium. The money accumulated at the door (in the form of a voluntary contribution) will also be divided equally between the acts and given to the person/company who submitted the project.

As for the selection process, we would like to accept as many projects as possible, but if we do not have enough time, as we will only have 2 hours for the event, we will draw candidates by lottery. Preference will be given for artists from the Atlantic provinces.

The chosen artists will be responsible for covering their own travel and accommodation expenses. Nevertheless, we can supply a letter of invitation to those who wish to submit a travel grant application. It may also be possible to find housing among local artists.

Please fill out the attached application form here.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, September 9th, 2022.

We will let you know by the end of September if your application was successful. For any questions, please write to: carteblanche.acadie@gmail.com

Paradise Lost and Found: Paths of Ecological Resilience ☁️

June 23, 2022 @ 5:00 pm 7:00 pm

The exhibition Les objets trouvés du paradis | Paradise Lost and Found will be presented from June 23 to October 30, 2022, at the Galerie d’art Louise-et-Reuben-Cohen. In handwriting French and English text: Paradise Lost and Found, Paths of Ecological Resilence

The exhibition opening will be held on Thursday, June 23, at 5 PM, with some artists and the curator in attendance.

“Now that there is no place left on earth that is not contaminated by human activity, artists are revisiting the idea of paradise in their own way, and the term is taking on new meanings in our imagination.” Declares the exhibition’s curator, Carolina Reis. “Together, [the work of these seven artists] propose a diversity of dialogues with the environment and decentralized views of the place of human beings within the biosphere. […], these artists invite us to rethink the place of humans in their environment and to imagine different ways of reconstructing the paradises of the future with the remains of a fragmented nature.”

The exhibition will also be accompanied by a screening of films by Marjorie Beaucage, Katia Café-Fébrissy, and Thirza Cuthand, which will be held on September 29, at 8 PM, followed by a discussion. Other activities, such as a round-table discussion, online programming, and various creative workshops, will be shared throughout the course of the exhibition.

The gallery hours are from 9 AM to 4 PM, Monday to Friday, and 1 to 4 PM, Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free.

Many thanks to the Department or Tourism, Heritage and Culture of NB and the Ontario Arts Council. The curator recognizes the support of the curatorial incubator of l’Association des groupes en arts visuels francophones, Véronique Leblanc, Gentianne Bélanger and of Mother Earth for carrying our weight and keeping us alive.
