Sackville Street Chalk Art Festival – Celebrating Canada’s 150+ Years
August 25, 2017 @ 8:00 am - August 26, 2017 @ 5:00 pm
Unique to Atlantic Canada, this festival will be held on Bridge Street in the “heart of downtown” Sackville, New Brunswick on August 25th & 26th, 2017. This Friday–Saturday event will start at 4:45pm on the 25th and go until 10pm on the 26th.
This festival will feature eight Canadian artists creating their artworks directly on Bridge Street, including two renowned Canadian chalk artists one who creates the Madonnari traditional chalk art, François Pelletier, and the 3D artist Chalkmaster Dave, who will be creating an interactive piece.
Alongside the artists there will be art workshops for children, lead by a local artist Rachel Thornton. As well there will be chalk activities and a Free-For-All area for everyone. This Festival is not just about you seeing the artwork, it is about feeling welcome to participate and create your own artwork in chalk.
Additionally, throughout this two-day festival there will be live musical entertainment representing the local English, Acadian and Mi’kmaq musicians. Some of these live music acts are participatory. Such as the Hand Drum Magyk Sacred Drum Circle on Friday night and the the children’s concert on Saturday afternoon. Also the Calithumpians Theater Company will be presenting their play “NB Canada 150: It All Began Here” tour, on Friday night.
