Bob Morouney

April 22, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Saturday April 22 is a beginners introduction to copper plate etching. After his very successful workshop last January, Bob is returning to offer it again.

1 Day Workshop is designed to give interested persons an appreciation for, and understanding of, intaglio printmaking through encountering copperplate etching.  In the course of this workshop each participant is given a prepared copperplate the size of an average playing card — 2.5 x 3.5 inches.  Participants are given a list of instructions and tips a week before the workshop and they arrive with pencil drawings the size of the plate to be printed.  During the day participants transfer their drawings to the plate, scratch through the hard-ground resist to prepare the plate for etching, then they etch the plate.  After a brief lunch break participants clean their plates. learn about correction techniques, then learn to print from their plates, a process which includes ink preparation, applying the ink, techniques and processes for removing the ink in a manner which produces a good print. Typically participants produce between 4 and 6 prints from their plate.
