Tea and Treaty Signatures with Wolastoqewi Knowledge Carriers in Menahkwesk ๐ต
November 7 @ 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
The Caribou Club presents Tea and Treaty Signatures, with Gina Brooks, Susan Sacobie, Becca Ireland, and Elder Ramona Nicholas.
Promise Makerspace (Annex A Room 14) and the UNB Saint John outdoor classroom (behind the Hans W. Klohn Commons)
Gather in the old village to learn about the tradition of treaty signatures and the responsibility we each owe to treaty. Learn to transpose your own signature (or ntotem) onto winter bark with Wolastoqewi Knowledge Carriers, and then enjoy tea steeped over the fire in bark containers and infused with the medicinal properties of birch.
Space for the etching workshop is limited, and registration is required.
All are welcome to enjoy tea by the fire at 4 p.m. behind the Hans W. Klohn Commons! Bring your own cup. This event is supported by the Department of Humanities and Languages and the Faculty of Arts at UNB Saint John. For general inquiries, email rachel.bryant@unb.ca
