Fog Forest Gallery Exhibition
Fog Forest Gallery will present two pieces created by Deanna for the festival. The pieces on display were created thought a collaboration between Deanna and L’Harmonie des Saisons. The two works reflect the title of the program: A Musical Soirée at the Home of Bach and the nature of the of music.
Johann Sebastian Bach’s family home in Leipzig was a revolving door of illustrious and celebrated musicians. These musicians came both from within the family and visitors who came from far and near. We can safely suppose that Bach adapted his vast chamber music repertory to suit the occasion, depending upon which celebrated person was in attendance or which son was at home. It was not uncommon for the Baroque composer to rework, transpose or assign different instrumentation to their compositions when adapting for the personnel available.
The exhibition runs Wednesday, September 19 to Friday, September 21 at Fog Forest Gallery 10:00am to 5:00pm daily.
Saint John artist, Deanna Musgrave, is best known for her monumental paintings such as, “Cloud”, which is part of the collection of the University of New Brunswick; displayed at the Hans Klohn Commons building in Saint John, and measures 10’ high and 56’ long. Musgrave has had a solo exhibition of her works in each year since her graduation from the Mount Allison Fine Arts program in 2005. Early on in her career, she was selected by the Beaverbrook Art Gallery in 2017 for its Studio Watch Award aimed at introducing promising new artists to the public and later included in “Off the Grid: Abstract Art in New Brunswick” at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery in 2014.
“Often working on the studio floor, using liquid paints to surround, unify and pool around areas of information, Musgrave succeeds in defying a traditional concept of perspective. Her compositions unfold almost three-dimensionally, enveloping the viewer with information from above, straight on and below.” ~Stephanie Buhmann (New York Art Critic) “New Brunswick Studio Conversations,” Billie Magazine V.2, Spring 2017
Her work has been enthusiastically reviewed by the New Brunswick media, and she has won numerous grants and awards from the New Brunswick Arts Board, Mount Allison University and the University of New Brunswick.

In addition to Deanna’s pieces for the festival, Fog Forest Gallery will be presenting the following exhibition:
Clouds, storm fronts, sunny ‘green and blue’ days, tidal fog, driving rain, the still of winter or the rage of a blizzard are all a part of life.
Weather can define a region and a people. As Canadians we are known to have an obsession with ‘weather’. Perhaps that comes with a knowledge that our weather can be life threatening and dangerous. It can also provide the backdrop for leisurely family picnics and memorable spontaneous ‘swims’ in the ocean.
Fog Forest Gallery challenged some of their gallery artists to create works of art inspired by weather. The multi-media exhibition simply entitled, “Weather” begins on September 19 and continues until October 6, 2018.
Fog Forest Gallery is located at 14 Bridge Street, Sackville, NB with regular hours from Tuesday – Friday 10 am – 5 pm and Saturday 10 am – 1 pm. For more information please visit the website at: fogforestgallery.ca or call Janet at 506-536-9000.
