TRIO: UNIVERSITÉ DE MONCTON 2017 FINE ARTS GRADUATES’ SHOW
May 9, 2017
Galerie d’art Louise-et-Reuben-Cohen presents TRIO, an exhibition of works by Université de Moncton’s graduating fine arts students. The opening will be held on Thursday, April 13 2017, from 7 to 9 PM, with the three graduating students in attendance.
Inspired by her personal life, Paryse Daigle, from Grand Falls, questions the relationship between mental state, memory, the passing of time, and the influences that transform personalities. Through printmaking and sculpture, she attempts to question the space of time in relation to reality and fiction. Furthermore, she is intrigued by the relationship people can have with their environment, their social milieu and their generation.
Originally from Shippagan, Julie-Pier Friolet questions relationships, feelings, and frustrations caused by the lack of understanding, denial and ignorance of mental illness, particularly as regards to aging in her sculptural installation and photography. She is also interested in the singularity of cognitive development in relation to causes and repercussions on the brain.
Chloé Gagnon, from Hearst in Ontario, uses the body as a metaphor and questions the relationships we maintain with others and with ourselves. Her painting work explores the interdependency between the inner and outer self through unusual and unique figures. Her paradox infused sculptural work reveal ironic twists of fate by presenting human kind as overexploited animals.
The exhibition will be presented until May 14 2017. Gallery hours are 1 PM to 4:30 PM, Tuesday to Friday, and 1 PM to 4 PM on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free.
