Get to know Michaella Vickers:
Michaella Vickers, grew up in Blackville, New Brunswick and moved to Fredericton when she was eighteen. She is a visual artist as well as a photographer. I had the chance to catch up with her and learn more about her and wondrous art. We are beyond lucky to have talented artists like Michaella take full advantage of the resources we have to offer. Where did you pursue your studies?
I started drawing at an early age. I went to the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design and received my foundation in visual arts and my diploma in photography.
Do you aspire to any specific project(s) within the next 5 years?
A more focused sense of style in my work, and a larger body of work.
What has influenced your decision to pursue your art here in NB rather than elsewhere?
My experience at NBCCD was so positive that I really fell in love with the community of artist and musicians around me.
What is a highlight of your career so far?
Having my artwork accepted by Italian photo Vogue.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by the books I read, the films I watch and the dreams I have; daydreaming.
Can you identify a challenge you’ve face and how you have overcome it?
I am my own worst challenge to overcome, anxiety has stunted a lot of productivity in my creative process and ability to reach out.
What are words you try to live by?
What matters most is how well you walk through the fire.
