Petapan—meaning ‘First Light’—is an arts symposium that brings together close to 150 Indigenous artists and arts professionals from the Atlantic provinces every two to three years. The first was held in Millbrook (NS) in 2014, the second in Dieppe (NB) in 2016, and the third in St. John’s (NL) in 2019.

Petapan is the fruit of a partnership between the arts boards of all Atlantic provinces, as well as the Canada Council for the Arts and Canadian Heritage.
