Art Kitchen

Art Kitchen is a radically transparent and participatory approach to arts funding. Connexion ARC invites patrons to gather over a communal meal – a delicious soup prepared by a guest chef and beer from Picaroons Traditional Ales – and hear local artists present their work. Each patron is given a ballot to vote for one of four art projects they would like to see happen in Fredericton. A popular vote determines the grant recipient. The selected artist will receive a grant from the evening’s profits, providing a local artist or curator with un-bureaucratic funding for artistic creation, research, and experimentation.

Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased for $20 online on Eventbrite or in person at Connexion ARC’s offices (Charlotte Street Arts Centre room 130, office hours Mon-Thurs 12-6pm). Please consider purchasing your tickets well in advance. A limited number of tickets will also be available for $25 at the door. For more information, see www.connexionarc.org

Oil and Cold Wax Workshop

Exploring the Surface: painting with Cold Wax & oil

Ancient and intriguing, this luscious and tactile medium fosters versatility. Its translucent qualities allow light to penetrate into the surface, emphasizing rich and vibrant colour, depth and tone. Cold wax medium can be used to collage found natural materials (leaves, bark, wildflowers) as well as photos and paper.

Texture, mark-making, relief and stencilling will be explored by utilising cold wax medium, oil pigment, drawing materials and tools including brayers, brushes, knives, scrapers and squeegees. No previous art-making experience needed-just an open mind
