We’ve added a new course to the Foundry. Music Rights and Royalties for Musicians and Master Owners with Tim Hardy is available online now.
A song becomes valuable the minute it is created. Music performers and master owners have rights under Canada’s Copyright Act. SOCAN music licenses take into consideration the value of music to a business and ensure that the owners of that music are compensated. This online course will help music performers and master owners navigate the sometimes complicated process of finding licensing opportunities and making sure their rights are respected.
The Foundry is ArtsLink NB’s collection of accessible courses for NB artists to develop the skills they need for robust and successful arts practices. You can access all the available courses here:
This is the second course in a series of two Foundry by Tim. Part 1, Royalties for Songwriters and Music Publishers is also available now.
Tim Hardy is the co-owner of Sound of Pop, an ECMA award-winning music publishing and master/sync representation company, operates an independent rights management and music consulting company based in Halifax, Nova Scotia (Aspenway Music) and previously worked with SOCAN for over 20 years.
This course is supported by the Government of New Brunswick’s Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour.
