2023-24 Programming Calendar
CATAPULT Arts Accelerator
ArtsLink NBโs CATAPULT Arts Accelerator gives New Brunswick artists the tools to be prolific and build sustainable careers.
Business skills training, career development, workshops, and mentorship โ all in one program.
Artists need the work habits that would allow any entrepreneur or small business owner to succeed in his/her field. Good time management. Solid record keeping and sound financial management. Effective self-promotion and professionalization of your brand. Telling a good story and being heard. Knowing how to write a contract. CATAPULT is all about helping you to be purposeful and organized about the business side of your artistic practice.
Over an 8-week period, CATAPULT participants receive training in fundamental entrepreneurial skills like business modelling, marketing, branding, financial planning, and exporting. Guest speakers and facilitators for the CATAPULT workshops are drawn both from the business and professional art communities. Participants also receive one-on-one coaching from the program coordinator and formal mentorships from individuals operating at the top of their field.
The Fall and Winter sessions of CATAPULT run from September 24 to November 19, 2023 and from February 3 to March 24, 2024. Application details can be found here.
The Foundry
The Foundry is a collection of online courses and resources for professional artists to enhance their skills. ArtsLink NB provides development opportunities on topics essential to arts careers. Connecting artists to the skills they need is a priority for ArtsLink NB, and The Foundry helps NB artists develop skills needed for robust and successful arts practices.
Cross-Cultural Creation Residency
ArtsLink in collaboration with Mawiโart and l’AAAPNB established an artistic research residency in 2019 that offered an Indigenous, Anglophone, and Francophone artist with a three-week multi-cultural opportunity that encouraged exploration, collaboration and creation.
The latest Cross Cultural Creation Residency took place in Metepenagiag in May of 2023, and it will return in 2025.
Introspect: a Nature Residency
Introspect: a nature residency is a low-tech residency; a return to the simplest forms of creation. The residency has a focus on the essentials, eliminating all potential distractions by limiting the use of screens and other technologies, to focus entirely on the process of creation.
The artists are selected by a peer jury, and come from all around the process, encompassing multiple artistic disciplines. Introspect: a nature residency is a biennial residency.
2024: Mt. Carleton Provincial Park
From June 3-16, 2024, the selected artists will be staying in Mount Carleton Provincial Park, in the parkโs heritage cabins at the Nictau campsite.
The call for artists is now open and will close on February 21, 2024. Go here for details.
2022: Herring Cove Provincial Park, Campobello Island
In 2022, the five selected artists stayed in rustic shelters, taking inspiration from the beautiful, picturesque setting of Herring Cove Provincial Park on Campobello Island.
You can see the group project from 2022ย here.

Arts Atlantic Symposium
Artistic encounters provide an exchange of ideas, a form of communication that lives at the heart of community. It is how we share (and transform) stories about ourselves and our society. The landscape is changing โฆ but weโre still here. What models of creative collaboration can we explore together as we greet this different world? Where is the platform for critical discourse? How does virtual participation influence the performing arts? How will AI impact the arts industry and creativity at large?
These are some of the bold questions that will shape the 2024 Arts Atlantic Symposium, a three-day multi-disciplinary experience for anyone interested in the arts and their vital role in society. Join us in October 2024 in Moncton, New Brunswick, to engage with the breadth of artistic enterprise in Atlantic Canada.
The inaugural Arts Atlantic Symposium took place Oct 21-23, 2022 in Saint John. Over the 3-days participants enjoyed performances, installations, exhibitions, presentations, and discussions about the future of art in Atlantic Canada.
Digital Connections
Digital Connections was a project led by ArtsLink NB, made possible through funding from the Canada Council for the Artsโ Digital Strategy Fund. This project brought together arts organizations of varying sizes and disciplines from across New Brunswick to collectively strengthen the arts across the province by:
- Enhancing collaboration across the arts in New Brunswick through digital means;
- Identifying gaps and needs to increase digital knowledge and capacity;
- Helping equip artists and arts organizations with the necessary resources and training to use digital platforms to their maximum benefit; and,
- Demonstrating digital pathways for connecting with arts audiences.
